Defining a Signature Look in Midjourney 7.1

What is Midjourney Style Tuning?

Midjourney 7.1 introduced a new feature that allows artists to narrow in on a signature look. Through a simple quiz, you're shown a range of images and asked to pick the ones that match your taste. Once complete, you're given a style preset that you can apply to any prompt moving forward.

The result? More control, less trial and error, and a creative toolkit that feels deeply personal.

Why I Wanted a Consistent Look

As an artist working across both photography and AI-generated imagery, I know how important it is to have a recognizable style. Whether I’m creating commissioned work, short films, or editorial series, I want the viewer to feel that it came from Trust This Robot.

This style tuning process lets me maintain that consistency without sacrificing the spontaneity and surprise that makes AI art so fun to create.

What My Style Looks Like

My preset favors:

  • Painterly textures

  • Soft, natural light

  • Romantic stillness

  • Elegant, surreal elements

  • Patterned interiors

  • Emotional quiet

It lives somewhere between classic portraiture and fine art fantasy. The images above, featuring a man with a penguin is another example—lush with detail, bold in color, and slightly offbeat.

How This Changes My Workflow

Before, I had to prompt and re-prompt to recreate a look. Now, with my style preset set as default, I can work much faster without compromising on vision. It streamlines everything from draft to delivery, especially for client-facing projects or creative series that require consistency.

Where I’m Taking This Next

I plan to use this aesthetic across a few upcoming visual series for Trust This Robot, as well as select editorial work where the goal is to blend photography and AI art seamlessly. This style will be the foundation for new story-driven visuals—portraits, dreamscapes, and surreal tableaus that feel like paintings come to life.

If you're curious about how a defined AI aesthetic could help your brand, project, or story—reach out. I'd love to hear from you.
